WORKSHOP

Our joinery shop

In our joinery shop we make every part of our organs ourselves, from the case and framework through the bellows and windchests to the key action and stop action. Master joiners and organ builders work together here, combining their respective expertise with a view of the instrument as a whole. The keyboards, too, are made entirely in our workshop and, together with their action, are designed to allow a light, direct and inspiring touch with as little noise as possible.

We work according to proven traditional methods and use hide glue predominantly in the wind-carrying components – also with a view to protecting the organ pipes from lead corrosion. The choice of materials and methods is always matched to the task at hand. What matters is that the constructions go on doing their job for the long term and can still be understood and repaired after many decades.

In our assembly hall we erect even large instruments completely before delivery. This prevents delays caused by unnecessary improvisation at the installation site and keeps assembly times short, so that normal church life can resume as quickly as possible.
